    I'm looking for Scorpion owners

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you but it's fall and our season is at it's end. This boat was painted ALL gold even the mast. Inside he fiberglassed everything solid and He uses a side mount electric motor to get around when needed. He says it sails like a champ. He and I left the marina at the...

EY.o Fund Raising 2012-2013: Thank You!

I agree with the sentiments already mentioned. I didn't send money last year (and felt bad) but was happy to this year. I check the site daily and enjoying reading everyone's thoughts and comments. I can't even count the number of times I've gotten help and ideas from past postings. Thank you...

    knotmeter or not?

Well, thanks for all the input. Since I sail only on a lake and only for about 3-4 months, I think I'll take the $300 and buy some other "valuable" piece of equipment (MP3 player, drink holders, little umbrellas for our drinks, etc.). I appreciate a place to ask for opinions and need this...

    knotmeter or not?

When I bought my boat a couple of years ago, I noticed the old analog knotmeter was broken. I wanted a chart plotter and depthsounder so bought and installed a Garmin 431S which I discovered gave me knot speed via GPS. So the big question is should I repair the old SignetMarine knotmeter or...

    Does size matter?

Wow, this is great information. I never thought of the distance between and come to think of it, maybe that's what I noticed during that sail. The size I thought looked familiar but the timing was closer now that you bring it up. Maybe there is hope for me yet. :egrin:

    Does size matter?

Hey all, this is a mindless pondering. I sail on my inland lake and last Sunday we had 2-3 foot waves, which were large for me. While fun, I was left wondering what would it be like on the ocean? What is the normal size for "comfortable sailing" and what size would "normal" (Okay, normal for...

    Removing varnish from deck

The PO of my 27 had bad eyesight and got varnish everywhere. We used a brand called Citristrip from a hardware store along with the wash to neutralize it afterwards. I then used fiberglass restore and then followed up with a good waxing. You can't even tell there was ever a problem (I made it...

'73-29' old style Raritan head part? Not the RaritanII

Do you have a picture of what you want? I replaced my old head 2 years ago and have the old one sitting in my garage. You know, you don't throw anything away

    Leaking companionway hatch

Nope. Just the slats. We brought the hatch home this spring and the boss (wife), stripped the old varnish off and then sealed it with several coats of marine varnish. It looked wonderful, right up to the time it rained and drip, drip, drip. I really hated the thought of losing that wood...

Is that 1/4 plywood and did you put it on the inside of the hatch? Lee

    End of year

Yep, on Flathead. Just to rub salt the sun came out, breezes came up and the people that could wait were going by the marina waving. Oh thou art cruel!:egrin:

    End of year

We just did the end of year haul out. This means I have to live the next 8 months vicariously, by reading posts on this website. Excuse me while I go cry while watching "Captain Ron".:crying: Is there anything sadder then a boat on the hard and tarped up?

Just bought an Ericson 27 - New sailor/boat owner alert!

Welcome. I too, am a new owner of a 27' and new to the sailing world (mid-life and all). I have entertained the people in my marina with all my learning, but they welcome the enthusiam and remember what it was like.:egrin: Like it's been said before, have fun!
