E 32-2 waterlif muffler placement

Hello All--

I'm going to replace a corroded A-4 waterlift muffler. Right now, I've got an original "can style" above the waterline design. According to the Moyer Manual, if I want to buy an off the shelf muffler, I'll put a below the waterline system with an anti-siphon hose.

My question is, do I need to build a fibergall platform for the muffler? Or can it sit on its own in the space around the shaft? If there are any 32-2 owners that have replaced their old system, I'd be grateful for any tips.

My FWC A4 on my former E32 had the off to the side and back of the strut. There was not step or built in plateform and I never had a problem. It was like that when I bought it and that way when I sold it, but with another 500 hours or so on the clock.
