1969 Ericson 26 Inboard/Outboard?

I'm considering a used E-26 but it has what seems to be a cutout in the transom where the outboard sits. It is a 1969 vintage. Is this standard or is this a "modification"?

Hi,
I have an outboard powered 1973 E-27. But cutout in the transom is different from yours. I think there is a "profile" of my boat in this website some place, so you can see the configuration. I don't know how to tell you to get there, though.
