Powder coating as a marine finish

Any comments on the efficacy of powder coating as a finish in a marine environment? I am working on reconditioning some portlights to replace the leaking ones in my 30+ and thought about powder coating as a possibility. I was also thinking of patching some small areas of corrosion on the...

    Epoxy coating for teak

One more question....experiences and advice requested.... I have heard of some people refinishing teak by applying a thinned epoxy resin to the teak, and varnishing or Sikkens on top of the epoxy. The thought being that the epoxy will seal the wood from moisture, and give great wear...

    A great corrosion resistant coating

Hi All, Thought some of you might want to hear about a great product for preventing corrosion on aluminum (and probably lots of other things). It's called Nyalic & was developed by NASA for use in extreme conditions. It is a clear liquid which you paint on and it dries slightly glossy but...

    Prop Coating ?

Walking around the local yard today I noticed a couple of boats that appeared to have a coating on the prop and shaft. Looks something like varnish. Is this some type of antifouling treatment? Anyone know of such a thing? Should the shaft and prop be coated with something? Dave G
