Tips on removing the holding tank and head in 1980 38ft

I put an airhead in my ‘84 38. One of my favorite upgrades by far. I use it as a Liveaboard no problem. The old tank and head came out with pretty much no problem. I used a few bungs to plug hoses, trying to minimize how many I actually had to take apart. Still managed to make a bit of a mess...

1983 E-38 Water tank available in Seattle, WA (slight leak)

It has not been tested, so there is certainly a chance that it was only leaking at the fill or drain, but they always felt dry to me. I'm sure it could be repaired with out too much trouble, I just went a different route. I'm regularly driving between Belingham/Anacortes and the Portland area...

1983 E-38 Water tank available in Seattle, WA (slight leak)

I removed the v-berth water tank from my 1984 Ericson 38. It appears to be in pretty good shape but it was definitely responsible for a regular puddle of water under next to the depth/speed transducers. I never saw water coming from the hose connections, so I have to assume it's got a pinhole...

Extraction, cleaning, and reinstallation of four fixed ports on 1975 Ericson 25.

Heya @bigd14 - Just curious if you're still happy (and dry) with your solution of skipping the glazing and just bedding the glass in the frame with Dow 795?

    Fuel jug/jerrycan rack

Inspired by Christian's design for carrying spare fuel I'm trying my hand at building a set of racks and was curious to get some opinions on how I might attach them to the stays (I'm on an Ericson 38). I couldn't find any details of his design, only that he had to make some adjustments when the...

    E38 line sizing questions...?

3/8" xls extras enough I just wanted to bring this thread back from the dead. I wanted to get some more input on whether 3/8" xls extra is suitable for a main halyard? I have the original rigging spec that says 3/8" rope - 7/32" wire. I'm not with the boat right now but it just seems like the...

Thoughts on converting T-balls to through bolted tangs (1984 38')

I'm really not interested in making this project more difficult than it has to be. I was pretty much set on sticking with the T-balls despite hearing about how poorly made the current Navtec Gibb style Tball fittings can be and despite having folks like Brion Toss "strongly encourage" that...

Thoughts on converting T-balls to through bolted tangs (1984 38')

I have a 1984 Ericson 38' that I've been scheming to re-rig for a while. One of my outstanding decisions is regarding the Navtec T-balls on the shrouds and. I'm wondering if anyone has replaced their Navtec T-balls with through bolted tangs, or if anyone can point me to a resource for best...

e38 main halyard masthead sheave pin length?

Title pretty much says it all. Does anyone know the length of the pin for the main halyard masthead sheave on an 1984 38'? This rig-rite page lists four different lengths http://www.rigrite.com/Spars/Kenyon_Spars/5280-cruising.html. I'm not with my boat presently and would love to have a spare...

    replacing tballs with bolted tangs

Hello All. I have a 1984 38 which will have new rigging installed this winter. Due to their inherent design flaw/weakness at the bend, I'm wondering if anyone has ever replaced the shroud t-balls with tangs? I'm considering this but do not know how this would best be done. I was thinking...
