    1987 E34-2 for sale

I have been boat shopping for a larger more blue water type sailboat and am at the point I should start working on positing my 1987 E34-2 for sale. It's a very well loved boat that's been kept up nicely by previous owners. No mold, no funky smells, dry boat, dry bilge and sailed often. New...

    E34-2 cruising asym spinnaker

I'm shopping for a used cruising asymmetrical spinnaker for my 34-2 and was wondering what I should be looking for size wise. The "generic" cruising spinnaker dimensions I see on most sites are a somewhere in the 44' luff, 40' leach, 21' foot size range. I'd like to use a sock with it and seem...

    tough time removing old lettering

    1982 E-38 Genoa size question

I have a brand new North radial cut 2+2 batten with two reefs and a loose foot. It's a wonderful sail and made a big difference in boat performance. I go forward instead of sideways now You're absolutely correct Christian, when the wind pipes up the main gets flattened and then the traveler...

    1982 E-38 Genoa size question

Sorry for the confusion Frank, what I was intending to convey was the fact that these late 80s Erickson's move so well under headsail alone that I often purely for simplicity sail with just the 120 Genoa. It could also have something to do with trying to entertain the girlfriend, keep the boat...

    1982 E-38 Genoa size question

On my e34-2 I have a high cut 95, a 120 where the clew is about even with the boom, and a 150. I never use the 150 and should just sell the thing. I often fly just the headsail in 15kts or less and the boat does quite well. When I can have 4 good size people sit on the rail the boat will carry...

E34-II Spade Anchor Fit Question (from a new owner)

I switched from a 33lb original Bruce with 35' of 5/16 G4 chain to a 33lb Rocna and 70' of 5/16" G4 chain. More chain helped for sure. Most of the places I anchor in Puget sound are between 15-30' deep at low tide. When I'm in deeper water and at a 5:1 scope or more I add a 15lb Kelket to the...

    Wallas 1300 or webasto 2000

I was lucky in that my boat had a new fuel tank installed a few years back and there was a spare 1/2" NPT port not being used. Before the heater install I used that port to check fuel level with a dip stick.

    Wallas 1300 or webasto 2000

I recently installed a Wallace DT30 in my E34-2. Outside the cabin sitting in the cockpit you can barely hear the exhaust or fans running. Like any forced air heater there is a little noise from the heater outlet ducts more so when on high and the fans are blowing full speed. It's been...

2017 Rerigging and Electronic Updates for E38-200

I'm a live aboard at Shilshole on my E34-2 and would love to catch up with you and swap boat project info. I'm looking to replace standing rigging soon myself and have also been drooling over new electronics for the boat. Jason SV Kai Mana

    Wallas 1300 or webasto 2000

Just installed a Wallas DT 30 on my E34-2 and am quite impressed. It's basically silent and on paper is the most efficient amps and fuel consumption per BTU. It's overkill for a 25' boat but regardless I'm impressed with the Wallas product line. -Jason

    Got Design Questions?

E34 Pushpit Rail fixed and re-installed Finally took the time to remove the bent rail and have it fixed. I used a conduit bender and some 3/4" EMT conduit to bend up a pattern to match the curve of the transom to help Railmakers out. They put a joggle in the lower rail to clear the backstay...

    Battery upgrade project

I have read that you charge them the same way you charge AGM batteries. I've got a Balmar alternator and regulator setup and a 20amp Xantrax shore power charger. The E34-2 factory battery box only holds two G31 size batteries and is located under the aft bunk. My optima starting battery and one...
