    Close hauled in an Ericson

Wow I’ve learned a lot so far with much more to go I cannot thank everyone enough for taking the time to not just help me but all the others who will read this thread. I learned to sail on a Buccaneer (18’ dingy that had more sail then my 25 venture) that you could feel the change you made. I...

    Close haul in an Ericson

So my son and I are having fun in our monthly club races. However he is getting a lot better holding our course so now we are currently increasing our time. Just wondering how close an angle to apparent wind is optimal. Yes I am being lazy asking for opinions from this great site and just save...

What is this Tool--a Threaded Stud with a Handle?

+1 on Cory. mine have a clamp on top and on bottom to hold the post in place. I believe if it was for the turnbuckle it would be fine thread and it appears to be course thread.

Any Ericson Owners on Lake Texoma?

We live over by Gainesville so it is 38 miles from my drive way to the slip parking lot. Which males every weekend on the boat very doable. Look forward to meeting you.

Any Ericson Owners on Lake Texoma?

Ahoy there fellow Viking. I own the Yellow hull Ericson on Texoma also at Cedar Mills. We are located on P dock and are out almost every weekend. Come by some weekend and we can have a drink together.

    Heat exchanger issues

No corrosion what so ever. It looks ruff but that was the paint burnt off from the torch used to weld the bronze. The zink was perfect. I sail in fresh water.... kinda....Lake Texoma is technically brackish so I still use zinc. There was some build up internally but I imagine this was the...

    Heat exchanger issues

So we went out two weekend and after about 10 minutes of motoring the temp gauge was reading 190 which isn't critical but not near the normal 145 I am use to seeing. So last weekend it was a motor day. Started by changing the raw water impeller. Started the engine and it was moving water great...

    Broad reach sail trim

Personally, I love to go fast to the windward and pinch in tight, as tight as 30 degrees apparent. And the looks I get from other boats by pinch so tight and flying up wind... yes Christian is correct it's bragging rights and oh so fun to do it and whatch the other boats have to fall off the...

    Broad reach sail trim

When I first started to sail....20 years ago I was given some advice on sail trim. " when in doubt let it out". Once it starts to luff trim it in till it no longer luffs." I found this to be very sound advice as I was always sheeted in too far. I fly a 155 head sail on the outer tracks only...

Pricing on various generations of Ericson yachts

A different approach We recently( Aug '16) bought out 35-3. And we looked at several boats. What lead us to the Erickson besides just being awesome is the mentality of what we don't like or can't live with. By looking at the boat buying process from that angle you will buy a great boat...

    84 35-3 sheave sizes?

Up the mast After replacing my Halyards I went up the mast to do some work and decided to inspecte the sheaves accepting the rope. I can say on my '83 35-3 I have no issues with the current set up using all rope.

Factory Fitted Instruments on 1986 38-200 Datamarine LX3600 Masthead unit and other q

Garmin I used Garmin and started with just the 741 chart plotter. I only mention this Bc I spliced the char plotter into the existing datamarine sounder and it works great with the Garmin. I cam back a few weeks later and added the wind sensor. The networking mak s adding things down the road a...

    35-3 icebox conversion

I am an HVAC-R technician in Texas and work on refrigeration a systems. Professional speaking if you found the correct components to work it is possible but your reliability will not be what what you would hope for. The main issue is your condenser coil sizing to work in the enclosed environment...
