The most cooperative, yet safe, bilge hose?

In a previous life, I once asked an extension professor at the university of Missouri what's a fast growing tree that also gives great shade. He said, you have to pick one. I'm thinking that the same goes for bilge hose when it comes to flexibility and safety/durability. But I thought I'd ask.

In order to get out one of my through hulls (and ultimately replace it) I had to move a bilge hose out of the way to. THAT may have been more of a pain than the extraction of any of the through hulls so far. The hose is 1.5" ID and I'd like to replace it with something kinder and gentler. I see all the bilge hose out there and I have a buddy with a length of the shields vinyl clear "bilge hose" he's willing to part with for cheap. But I'll need two runs of whatever I get. Just looking for preferences and experiences. thanks.

I'd use a smooth bore hose to increase flow, with the price increasing with the number of bends to avoid crimping.
