Moyer Pump

I put a Moyer unit on my 5432 last year. Very nice unit, replacement is as straight forward as it should be, instructions, service, etc from Moyer falls into that "well above average" category.

I agree about Moyer's service. Don always has time to chat about engines on the phone. Give him a call.

I'm sure the new Moyer pump is a spectacular piece of engineering but don't give up on the old one. With a special seal removal tool (ie, a $3 flathead screwdriver with a third of an inch of the tip heated and bent to a 90 degree angle) it takes all of three minutes to tap out the old brass seals and put in a new set.

With that, and possibly a new shaft, and a new engine-side gasket (use a lottery ticket for the impeller-side gasket) you will have an inexpensive full-service spare to bolt on at a moment's notice.

I had to swap out my pump just this weekend--my seal failed on the engine side and was leaking oil. With my spare I lost just 20 minutes of sailing time and felt like a hero.
