Removing Goo from Sail Numbers

Mark,

Once upon a time when I worked in a sail loft we use to sprinkle baby powder over the “goo”. We then would use a very dull like knife and scrap over the “goo” area. This would pull the goo out of the sail. It worked quite well. Keep in mind this was in the 70’s, but it still make be applicable today.

Good luck,

That works

baby power and a flat razor blade-you can also use a SMALL amount of solvent without much fear of damage. It goes away after a while.

No worries,

Gum remover might help. My company sells cans of gum remover that are just freon-like gas that cools whatever you aim at. Bet that might stiffen up the residual glue enough to allow scraping off better with a putty knife.

Then again, maybe the sailcloth would freeze and crack? Hmmmm.....maybe this was a dumb idea afterall. Nevermind.
