Re-bedding main hatch

Yes it's time to stop the pesky leaks before I redo the head liner throughout

When I removed the frame it was easy enough except for one screw that snapped.I assume it was on a list before from PO.(not Steve S).Glad the lens to upper frame is not jeopardized but I need the rubber seal now.As it turns out this is Atkins & Hoyle so anything from them will be a premium if I have to use them.My opening ports got new seals and screens.

The hatch had a rubber seal between frame and deck?

Or is this just a rebedding question....for which most of us use butyl tape or caulk.

Hi Christian?
The rubber seal is from open hatch side for when it closes down to deck frame below. It had glue holding it and a permanent groove overtimefrom being too tight when locked.
Watching Boatworks I cant get DOW 795 here in Canada unless I buy a case of 12.
I have butyl, 4200 and an auto glass shop sold me construction grade silicone.

Ahhhh YES!! …Our ‘73 32 had the beautiful Teak main salon hatch with traditional 45 degree mitered corners that seems no matter what we did would work underway and become water leak magnets.

A few years back…

We finally gave up, glassed it all in and added the aluminum frame Lewmar hatch for a more modern updated look AND most importantly- a dry cabin interior and solid deck core!
