When it comes to trying to find individual replacement items, I ask here first. Hundreds will have worked the same problem, and the pool of experience is vast. Some issues have no exact solution, such as rubrail extrusions that are no longer manufacturer by anybody.
The forum search function, like those of all such programs, is quite limited. Many of us use Google first, and if narrowing down to Ericsons, include "EY
rg". I also comb this forum using the tag cloud, trying all possible tags and noting the list of similar threads that appears at the end of each thread. A dull perseverance can pay off.
I also use Google Images for objects such as a "Ritchie compass cover". In the slew of pictures that appear you can click on one that looks interesting and be taken to the site of origin.
It is very useful simply to put your own boat ("Ericson 32-3") into Google Images. You have an immediate glance at other folks biminis, paint jobs, and so on.
On this topic, it is a great help to others to make thread titles specific, because that way the search engines better return them to others searching. Everything on forums is eventually available through Google Search.
When uploading a photograph to this forum, for example, if it says "img03391" or "My Boat" it is of not much value to anyone.
If the photo is entitled "Ericson 34 spinnaker pole mount" or "Yacht Specialties Pedestal Guard" it is available worldwide, and will soon appear in Google images for the benefit of a kindred spirit in Boston or Seattle.
Needless to say, this all has helped me out a good deal.
