Late last night I stumbled upon Robert Drakes YouTube videos of his single handed trip from NYC to Bermuda (A Living Nightmare ).
Its a a six part series that starts with him in NY Harbor ad setting off down the Hudson and offshore. After a couple days he hits a terrible storm that terrified him. Then he hears a call from a 50' steel hull sailboat who is completely disabled and he decides to help.

Afterwards I found more videos from Drake. He has lived quite the sailing life.
