Marine aluminum recommendation?

Hello All,
I am looking to have a set of custom engine pulleys made. The machinist would like to know what type of aluminum would be best for a marine environment. He has suggested 7075 T7 or 7050 but he's not a marine guy so he suggested I ask around to make sure I get what I need. I know someone in the Ericson family will have some input on this one. Thanks in advance! RT

Rob,
I'd go with T6 6061. It machines really nice, and can be hard
anodized or chromed. Just my 2 cents.

6061

I recall making a couple of small parts for my Dad's Irwin years ago. I used 6061 aluminum, mostly because I has access to some and it machines well. It held up well for 15 years in fresh water use. The boat is still in service although my dad sold it 3 years ago.
Good Luck
