E35-II Repower Blues

Well... here is the update on the Repower Blues.
Had a local diesel rebuilder tear the ole 90' Universal M4-30 down for an
estimate and what do you think we found ? The PO overcranked it with
the raw water valve open a few to many times and sea water had entered
the crankcase. The guts are sound and JUST need $6500 Parts and Labor
to rebuild the engine and transmission back in to as-new condition :eek:
Shopping around I can purchase new for $7000-$8000
Looking at the new Universal M-25XPB as my best pick for a replacement.
Have torn out ALL the old RUSTED engine bed system and will start from
scratch, so I can install any of the available 25-30HP engines.

Recent "boat show price" for a new M25XPB was around $6500. It's nice to start out with a new transmission and panel, too, by going this route.

Ya might want to eyeball a similar HP Betamarine. Both brands are based on the Kubota short block.
