I noticed that when I checked the Two Harbors WebCam the place was suddenly deserted. However, the Avalon WebCam shows many boats still in the harbor. It looks like the Harbor Patrol did relocate a bunch of them more toward the south east corner of the Harbor in anticipation of the wind direction.

Where did you get your info?

Interesting.

I wonder why they felt the need to close the harbor? I've been looking at the forecast and it seems that given the wind speeds and SE wind direction I'm seeing, the Isthmus should be pretty well protected. I plan to monitor it on the web cam and see what actually develops there.

I was over on the backside in January of 2021 during a Santa Ana and the harbor patrol closed down the Isthmus side and would not rent out any moorings. But the Isthmus is a death trap in strong NE conditions!

Here's a shot of Avalon. Still quite a few boats, though less than typical. Note that the harbor patrol moved the boats moored on the Casino side to the SE part of the harbor, for better protection against the coming weather.

Note also the anchor-outs in the upper right side of the photo. It will be interesting to see how they fare. Anchorage there is quite deep and holding only so-so. At least they should not be on a lee shore.

There is also a boat anchored out in that Isthmus picture (post #5) as well.
