We're told that the lowest pressure on record is coming our way. No one seems to know where it will make a landfall. I recommend keeping an eye on Cliff Mass's blog for wind and rain forecasts. He has controversial views, but I still say he is the best meteorologist we have.

FWIW I do recall the Columbus Day Storm.
We have friends living on the coast near Tillamook, and their views should be amazing. (They are back a few blocks and up about a hundred feet, but have a partial view of the beach.)

On Friday, a container ship lost 40 containers at the entrance of the Straight of Juan de Fuca. The Coast Guard warns that some containers are partially submerged and not visible. The ship is now anchored a few miles south of Victoria, B.C. Several containers still on the ship are now on fire and dropping burning material into the straight.

It’s Sunday noon as I write this. This storm is just starting and expected to last until Tuesday morning.
