Beware, Loose Thread
Poor guys just trying to make a living in the Vermont or Oregon wilderness, don't'cha know?
I think we should go back and blame Loren for hijacking this thread. :0
Well, when very young, once I did try selling encyclopedias for a week or three. While the product was 'real' the memorized selling patter bordered on cringe worthy (even then, by my slow-evolving standards).
Pack a group of teenagers in a van, drive into a neighborhood, and turn them loose to bother people door-to-door.
Ick.
My later job pumping gas in a cut rate service station was a LOT more dignified.
In those days a "service" station really did offer service. We would clean ALL external windows and offer to whisk-broom out the interior floor... I still recall the joy of *thoroughly* cleaning a windshield in the hot summer when the teen girl was driving her parents' big ol' sedan -- and of course her low cut top guaranteed that the glass would get polished to an extreme degree.
All this nostalgia and trivia over some spilled "vacuum" !
