1988 E38-200 hull-deck joint troubles

Kranich

E38 owner since 2009
I recently had the toe rails pulled off and the hull-deck joint re-sealed as they were leaking badly (at least one side). Today the boat was at the yard and was supposed to be pulled out. When the boat was lifted about a foot there was a loud crack and a part of the hull-deck joint opened up. The shipwright thought that this was highly unusual and did not want to pull the boat out any further because he was concerned that there is something structurally wrong the the hull-deck joint and didn't want to cause any further damage.

So here's my question: What's the design of the hull-deck joint on my E38-200? Is it bolted? Where are the bolts located?

Has this happened to somebody else? I just spent 2 hours searching the archives and couldn't find anything.

Best,
Peter

No reason why that should have failed other than something missed in the original construction or the boat had been previously repaired. Ericson has a good design for the hull/deck joint.
