i shut off the raw water valve and put a 10 ft garden hose in a gallon of 50% pink stuff and attached the other end to a take out on thr rawwater intake. i started the motor and nothing happened. the level of the pink stuff did not go down. i let run for a time but still nothing. i took the hose out out of the gallon jug and checked if there was sucksion and there was. later i held the gallon jug up higher than the engine and got about half a gallon into the engine. but by his time the engine was overheating so all i got out of the exhaust was staem so i quit. any ideas?

I would shorten the intake hose; maybe make it larger than garden hose; make sure you have somehow have made a siphon on that hose to eliminate any air inside. Maybe check and make sure pump impeller is in good shape. For normal intake, there isn't any suction that usually has to be made, so you might only see a flow issue when trying to pull in the A/F.
