Whale Watching?

I was out Saturday and I was monitoring the VHF. I was listening to the Whale Watching boats. One was getting sightings at Point Vicente and Rocky Point. The other was getting sightings at Catalina around White's Point. Then I got my sighting, a dead 25 footer about a mile off the San Pedro entrance. Not very exciting. The CG was broadcasting that it was a hazard to mariners soon after I saw it. So others had seen it as well.

I heard part of that on Saturday, too - we missed the "dead" part, thought it was a live one! Buddy of mine and I went to Catalina late Friday night. Had an incredible time - I am going to write a post about it - including a moonlit dolphin escort from about a mile out all the way to the island!
