I apologize for this threat to your free time, but these two video series explore projects beyond the ordinary:

These folks spent a year refitting their yacht in Thailand, where the local crew cooks up custom stainless fittings in exchange for haircuts.

This superman is building a large steel vessel in his yard--pretty much singlehanded.

Whatever else, these projects make rebedding a portlight look easy.

I lived in Annapolis in 1981, the year this film was made, and used to watch the tongers working on the South River.

Billy Moore built those specialized workboats almost entirely by eye, and his narration explains the job and tradition better than I have ever seen it done.

Everything is changed by now, the fishery over, the Chesapeake struggling to survive, and only YouTube left to tell the tale.

I have been following S/V Seeker for about a year and love it! For an Oaky redneck he is doing a great job at making me say "damn I could never do that" and making me feel guilty about not finishing all those little boat projects. Edd
