I just got sick and tired of the old snaps on my salon back rest so attached a French hanger to resolve my frustration and it is so simple, aluminum, easy to resolve and incredibly inexpensive. Pictured in the first image is the useless snaps and the next 2 images show the French Hangers which are amazingly inexpensive on Amazon for four pairs. I hope this helps for those who are like minded and need salvation from the blind snap program.

That's a nicer application and more yachty look. I will do the Starboard Settee with those.

I think the sailrite Beau clip brand would or could work if panels are pliable. For new boats where I work we use round adhesive mounting products for ceilings. Each side fits tightly to its opposing half and made of short rigid plastic strands which looks like the stiff side of Velcro but more rigid. That would work for your application.

I have those on the backrests in my setee. They grab really well.
