Has anyone had to replace their header tank/exhaust manifold because of erosion on a 5432?

I have no experience with that, but ouch, that could be co$t prohibitive unless you find someone parting out an old engine. Or maybe a good welder could do some magic.

You say erosion, do you mean corrosion? If so, how so? It is freshwater (coolant) cooled and isn't the boat in the freshwater lake?

Where is the problem showing up on the manifold? Can you attach a picture?

Yep. $1100 and a custom exhaust is mine. It replaced a DYI cast iron job.

I have not experienced any issues to date. I just wonder if any owners have. Changing anti-freeze every few years is a good idea so one doesn't let their cooling system Ph get out of balance.

If you do that it should be pretty immune to erosion.

It will probably last beyond the life of the engine.

The raw water pump and the heat exchange, because the are in contact with raw water, are a lot more prone to corrosion
