Basically, it was a group that was targeting users of Jelsoft's vBulletin forums software (what we use).
The version we were known had a security flaw in it that became known - so this group has been going around to all the sites that use it and trashed their boards.
The Arabic language on the hack (and on their site) ties back to their site (non-US) and basically take anti-US/anti-Isreal stance. I have no idea who they are, what their politics are, and I really don't care.
Lucky for us, the damage was something that could be addressed - and the upgrade closed the loopholes from the earlier versions. As you'll note, we now require email confirmation for new accounts, as well as some other features that defeat most types of automated probes.
