Thanks for the compliments. Similar hatches can be found on my dads
large custom cruising designs. This particular design with the twin
gutter pipes, originated with the late, great Maine joiner Duffy Dodge
who made many beautiful pieces for yachts such as Whitehawk, Whitefin,
and Signe. His signature "waterlock" dovetail detail was challenging to
build, but worth the effort.
Regarding your coaming caps, I have the factory version which overhangs
both sides of the cockpit. While pretty to look at, it does dig into
your back while leaning against it, and I am always looking for a
cushion to lean against. Just some food for thought when considering
profiles.
