sharklet anti-fouling technology

Vikings,

Some of you might have already heard of this, but I stumbled upon an article recently about a product called Sharklet that has been developed by an engineering professor in Florida. Ever wonder why sharks don't need to be bottom painted? They have a special pattern on the surface of their skin that inhibits the growth of marine organisms. Sharklet is a thin film that mimics this unique anti-fouling pattern of shark skin. It is hoped that in the near future the technology will be sophisticated enough to be applied to ships and boats as a substitute for bottom paint.
