Shackle loads

What kinds of loads are being placed on mainsail headboard shackles and jib halyard shackles? I have an E30+.

Depends on how hard you crank the halyard winch but a few thoughts.

A 3/16" captive pin hlayard shackle which would be suitable for your 30+ has a SWL of 1190lbs. See the harken link below.

5/16" diameter Sta-set line which would be a suitable halyard has 3500lb tensile strength.

Then theres the question of how big is your halyard winch and how strong are you?

Of course the above only points to static loading which will not be the same as dynamic load incurred while sailing. I'm not an engineer either so you gets what you paid for here:egrin:
