Refrig on 1983 35 Mk3

Want to install refrig, and local mfg Nova Kool 12V does not quite fit on the Stbd Laz shelf , just slightly too wide, and projects out into Laz few inches. I can likely make it fit by building in a raised shelf to place in wider part of hull as seem to have plenty of space heightwise... What was orig equip, and did it sit directly on the shelf and not project ??? All help and ideas appreciated Thx

We have a cheapo Norcold unit mounted on the shelf beside the dish cubby in the lazarette. I don't believe its original, but it fits just fine. I won't speak to the quality or suitability of the unit, but it is able to handle keep the fridge cool in the PNW. Now if only the AC side of it wasn't broken...
