Reaching toward L.A. Light

Here's a link to a short video clip I took with my iPhone on June 23. I was on a beam reach heading toward Los Angeles Light, on my way home from Redondo Beach (King Harbor), where I picked up a mooring for a few days. Wind was maybe 17 kts., gusting to 22 (according to the Angel's Gate sensor around that time). Full main and 135% genoa. Probably tucking in a reef would have been a good idea to tame the helm a bit for that course, but I was too lazy to do it, being that close to the barn. Pelagic was doing the steering.

I was hitting in the low-7's in that clip, which is pretty decent for my slow coach. As I got closer to the light and the swells increased, I hit a momentary peak of 8.1 and then 8.2 when surfing down the side of a swell. I was frequently in the mid-7's, and of course only in the 6's when not surfing. A fun sail!
