The captain and I depart for Newfoundland in 2 days time to rendezvous with the sailboat Pelagic. She's on her way back to winter quarters in Thomaston, Maine after circumnavigating Baffin Island this summer. Through the generous invite of a good friend of ours and boat partner of Pelagic, we'll try to pitch in on getting her there.
This is our first ocean sail. We expect it to be quite the initiation. Our connection has sailed with us on driftless a few times and been an excellent mentor. We see this as an incredible opportunity to find out if passage making is for us. A make or break point to see if our 5 year plan keeps going forward (for another 5+ years), or if we're content to keep sailing the sweet water seas.
Currently the plan is to meet the boat in St Anthony, NL on or around the 5th of Sep. We expect to make Thomaston by the 20th, hopefully with time to see some things ashore along the way. We'll see.
