I Just got the cylinder head back from the machine shop (valve job) and I'll be installing it with the head gasket and shim. Problem is I got 2 different answers as to whether the shim goes below against the block, or above against the head. engine schematic shows the shim above. Manufacturer emphasizes always put the shim under (against the block). Anybody know for sure or where to find out?
