Hundred-foot trimaran Lending Club averages nearly 25 knots, making nearly 600-mile days.

Meanwhile, Wild Oats, joint venture of Aussie wine magnate and Roy Pat Disney (Pyewacket), semi-languish in light air as Transpac fleet approaches Honolulu.

This is the Wild Oats I saw at the start of the race on Saturday. Different boat or just different graphics?

Your boat is called Wild Oats XI--so my guess is that the picture I posted is an earlier version. The whole partnership is kind of weird, two rich guys pairing up to--beat the other rich guys?

Or maybe it's that these boats are so expensive to campaign. But emotionally, it feels like AOL-Time Warner.

Maybe I miss the emotion of mergers?

This is pretty cool. Once the page is loaded you can get all sorts of data. Check out the slider bar at the bottom. Slide it back and fourth and you can see how fast in comparison "Lending Club 2" flys across the Pacific.
