Thank you for the Hawkeye lineage info, Loren. Sadly, this is seems to be an Iowa University Hawkeye. Complete with black and yellow lettering and an Iowa U. school sticker on the stern. As I am a Purdue grad (Aero engineering, '77), there's the Big Ten rivalry to consider. So the name will go by the way (with the proper de-naming and re-christening rituals). I'll have to see what history I can find on the IOR Hawkeye. Any ideas?
When I realized that documenting of the boat was expensive, and just to change the name of the boat it costs $275, I consulted my list of possibles and went with the double meaning of Pilot Project. I am a pilot and this is my first large boat, and hopefully I'll be mostly customizing, rather than repairing.
I have a Sub-lease at Shilshole this month and will get a permanent slip for August. We'll be up there for the summer, at least.
