Grease'in them winches

Actually, I use a tube of lewmar "winch grease". Mostly because I don't know better about grease, and it's only a few bucks for many years worth of grease.

Comes in a nice handy tube, too... Easy to keep on the boat. My old trim buddy and I got tubes of it (along with a t shirt) as consolation prizes playing with one of those coffee grinder contests. Nothing so much fun as being cheek to cheek with somebody you've been sailing all day with

I use light machine oil in pawls- heat/friction won't be an issue if you do them yearly (unless you're racing- then do them monthly).
