Fiberglass inside of hull is damp/wet above keel 1971 E-39

Hello all.

The fore and aft of the rusting steel plate ties the aft settee bulkheads into the hull, it appears to be constantly moist.

Anyone know why and what to do about it? The monel fresh water tank is immediately aft of the plate and not leaking.

Can you tell (maybe by a taste test?) whether it is wet from salt water or fresh water? If fresh water, you would be looking for a rainwater or deck wash leak; if salt water, perhaps keel bolts, thru hulls, etc. For those of us who don't own a E39 can you post a picture of what this area looks like? Then we can put our real thinking caps on...
