Fake Fuel Gauge? A Modern Mystery

I removed my fuel guage today so I could order a replacement and when I took out the two screws I realized it was a fake gauge with no conection to the inside of the tank.

Where is your fuel gauge?

Mine is under the mattress in the aft cabin. There was nothing underneath but a cap.

Perplexed?

Here is a pic of mine located, as is yours, in the aft cabin. My son who has a PS/E-333 which is really the same boat as yours has the same gauge.

Do you have any idea of what the depth would be? The Moeller Marine site shows them from 7.5" to 22".

Betcha it's a fairly wide and shallow tank shape. Can you take out the screws holding that cap on and stick the tank to measure distance to bottom?

I willtake a tape measure with me next time I go to the boat.

Stupid Me

I have never seen a gauge like this one!

Took the old one to West marine and replaced it today. All is well.

Maybe my 1988 32-200 had an upgrade or a previous owner modification, but I have a fuel gauge on the starboard side of the cockpit. Glad to know you could find a replacement for your gauge Rick.
