Here is a fascinating interview with Webb Chiles , who has solo circumnavigated 6 times ! First time on Egregious an Ericson 37.
First American to go solo around Cape Horn. ! He also set the record for the fastest solo circumnavegation on a monohull. (Ericson !!)
The other 5 times he circumnavigated, he did so on smaller boats ...down to 18". The guys is nuts !

Great interview - Anyone read many of his books? What's the best one for me to get as a first example of his craft? Thanks!

Thanks for sharing! Very cool to learn more about Chiles and the E38 cutter (without an engine!) used in the first circumnavigation. One of his websites can be found here [1] where there are free PDF [3] copies of his books (@nquigley) for personal viewing.

The picture of Egregious [2] seems really special and kind of captures the ephemeral side of sailing - it's captioned as the "the only picture I have of her"

I just read Storm Passage and The Fifth Circle and I have a couple more up next. Of the two, I'd suggest that first one, or an interview. The Fifth Circle is just more of a passage log, and doesn't have as much personal content. And he's an interesting person.
