Ericson 30+

I was looking at a 84 Ericson today.
Pop off the seat back cushion.
Unscrew a 6" deckplate type fitting and have access to the inside of the hull about 6" below the hull deck joint.

It was orange color and very sticky.
It was not any foam backed anything just the raw fiberglass was very sticky.
Not a little sticky but fly paper sticky.

What could that be.
Also what would a surveyor say about this situation.

Our 1984 E30+ has the same porthole openings you mention, as well as access to the hull through the head sink door, portholes under the quarterberth cushions and cockpit locker. The fiberglass is hard throughout with no sticky areas.
I wonder if your boat has uncured fibreglass, perhaps a boat built in a hurry Friday afternoon.
The experts on this forum will be able to give better advice, but I mainly wanted to let you know that this does not seem typical for the E30+ or any Ericson.
Keep us posted.

I noticed something similiar when we bought our 30+ 7 years ago. The fiberglass in those areas was just a bit sticky. I have not checked it since. We have had zero issues with Regulus since the purchase. I am not sure why it would happen.

Hope this helps
Greg
