ericson 25+ rudder questtion

Hey All, I've just purchased our very own 1981 Ericson 25+ in Seward, Alaska. I've had to do some repairs/upgrades (naturally, it's a boat after all!), but I have noticed that rudder is out of alignment for the tiller handle. Is this a major problem? Should I pull the boat out of the water? It's only about 15-20 degrees out...

I have a 1985 E26 mkIII and I have the same issue. when my rudder is aligned amidships the tiller is about two inches to port. I pulled my rudder when it was on the trailer to see why, and its just as simple as the holes drilled in the rudder shaft were not oriented quite accurately. doesn't cause any issues though.

Thanks, that's what I'm hoping for. I may still pull it later this summer to see if I can align it.
