after about a hour of motoring the oil pressure gauge went off and indicated I had pressure of 20 pounds. I turned off the engine and checked for leaks and if there was oil in the engine, which as it turned out was full. I also looked at the water temperature and saw that it was normal 180 degrees. So I turned the engine back on and the pressure was 6o pound where it stayed for the rest of the trip to Put in Bay about 1-1/2 hours and the way back the next day of 2-1/2 hrs. I was running at my usual 2400 RPM, or 80% of red line, when the incident occured. My engine is a universal M-40 and is a 1985. In asking around the dock it seems most think it was a sending gauge or oil pump problem. Anyone have any thoughts.
