e27 boom

I just refinished my spars with LP and upon disassembly of the boom to gooseneck (in order to paint only the extrusions), the connection between the end cap and the stud thru it to the gooseneck was a bear to seperate.
A machinist was able to seperate by a hydraulic press, but the part was as difficult to replace, he made another (nice having a machinist friend) just a few thousandths smaller. This of course has the effect of allowing full rotation of the boom; I cant think of any negative potentials of this except that flaking on the main might be tricky. Any comments or suggestiions?
