E-27 Owners Only (Past & Present)

When I hauled my boat out last December, I inquired about installing the PSS dripless shaft seal. I was told that there physically was not enough room to install it. Although I thought it odd, I did not challenge their response since I was out of town when I got the call.

I was considering it because the shaft was being removed anyway, which I figured was the bulk of the cost to replace the packing gland with a PSS.

Any E-27 owners out there have the PSS installed. Just curious.

Thanks

I attempted to install one a few years ago, but I returned it because the axial space wouldn't allow it to be within the recommended dimensions. You could probably physically get it to fit, but the preload would have been too much in my opinion. I'm sure there are variations between E27s, so you might have better results.

I have used the Gore packing material since and achieve dripless operation while keeping things much simpler.

OK, so I can't follow rules, I have a E29, and in 1995 put in a Norscott shaft seal, requires a little less space than the PSS
