ok, well, i finally made it out for a test spin in my new '78
E25 centerboard... board went down no problemo- err, i
just can't seem to raise it back up! i removed the panel
(aft of mast access panel), and am able to manually raise
the board via the rope, maybe 8" or so- (there is no leverage
to do more, and nothing to tie off to)-- the very same
rope runs free up and through the base of the mast, back
to a cleat by the campanionway...

maybe the centerboard needs to be WINCHED back up???
what am i missing here?????

Use the Winch

Our 74 E 25 had a winch mounted on the cabin top on the starboard side of the companion way to pull the centerboard up.

Brian,

Have you looked at the E-25 owvers manual in this website? It has a diagram showing the blocks associated with raising and lowering the centerboard. There should be two blocks connecting to a stainless steel cable, the end of which attaches to the centerboard. My boat also had a mid-cabiin top winch for raising and lowering the keel. I've since moved that winch to the aft starboard side cabin top and run the keel rope through the deck organizer back to the winch so that I can raise the centerboard from the cockpit.
