Cutting down transome on E 27

Hello..my first post on this site...which is, by the way, been wonderful lurking.
Question: I wish to cut the transom of my E27 down to the floor of the cockpit and as wide as the seats.
I then might install a swim grid but for starters...Will I threaten the integrity of the transom by doing this and will the rear stays need to be re-inforced in any way? I have seen many racing hulls with this but wonder if the older (mid 70s) Ericsons might be able to have the same modification?

Vikings,
If you have
Ericson specific design questions, post them here, and I will do my
best to get the answers.

thanks

Thanks Loren: I'm just getting onto "threads"...I had seen some of that outboard cutout discussion and it looks real promising. I'll navigate on!

This seems like an interesting question and really should have it's own thread. So I moved it. Hope no one minds too much.
I went to Google and typed in: ericsonyachts.org E-27 transom cut out

I got a lot of good prior threads about cutting down, strengthening, or otherwise modifying the E-27 transom.
Here is just one from those listed results:
