Chicago lake Michigan Beer Can as NASCAR: Rubbin' is Racin'

A bit of YouTube magic, capturing windward/leeward pre-start insanity induced by an 44' Jeanneau that found it was OCS and decided to just come down hard, regardless of the rules or presence of leeward boats who owned all the rights in the world. This decision impacted (literally) an S2 9.1 and a J30, the latter pin wheeling on its keel 90°. It's not known at time of writing if the timeshare company knows its Jeanneau is being subjected to this treatment.

It's noteworthy that there was no yelling, no waving of arms, objects thrown or shots fired. Race on!

Just a Nice Evening Sail, otherwise!

Aside: The closeup of the new cabin top non-skid is awesome.

I'm glad to be nowhere near the protest room for that multi-boat mess!
:0

It's just amazing what people will do to their boat (and to other boats) for a little $12. trophy... or even no trophy at all...

I am happy to be just an old cruiser these days. It's slightly safer.
:)

Cheers,
Loren

'Stick the landing'

Yes, the non-skid is (now) appropriately named, previously it was more of a suggestion, and a weak one at that. Mast and Foredeck now have traction in all weather conditions, rain and sea state. The landing can be stuck w/o hesitancy, a good feeling.

Buying the Race Starter App in May has helped our starts immensely, now able to contend with the 'Seasoned Vets' that are intuitively dialed in to Time & Distance relationships due to their experience. We're sticking our nose (including the new sprit dimension) into regions of the Starting Box uncharted previously.

And yes, that night was a lovely race, as we stayed boat-for-boat with an Express 34 for 4 of the 5 legs. They snuck away at the turn of the last pin and the final leg to the finish. Lots learned, again...
