Carpet Installation???

Hi Everyone - I hope this is a simple question and makes sense.

I have an old E29, the fiberglass sole in the cabin is in pretty ugly shape. It's not delaminating, but is esthetically challenged. I want to install some marine carpetting inside to spruce it up.

My question is, what is the best way to attach the carpet to the sole? I want to be able to take it out for drying and cleaning, but it needs to be stable when in the boat, (i.e., I don't want people slipping while we're healed over). Velcro sprung to mind, but prior to spending any $'s I wanted to check and see if anyone else had experience on this.

any thoughts?

One possibility....

I have seen several really nice installations where short-nap low loop carpet was edge bound to fit the perimiter, and then had ss snaps put around the edges to keep it from moving or sliding.
It could still be unsnapped for removal and cleanup.
