Can an Ericson 30+ Cruise Like an Ericson 38?

I've heard about several ocean-crossing cruises in Ericson 38s. And I just ran across this great video that shows off the 38.

So, would I be suffering delusions of grandeur if I thought of doing the same thing on a 30+?
Also just finished all the Pardey books and am in the 30-feet-is-enough mode. Plus, I own a 30+. I don't own a 38.

While a highly debated topic, as the fellow owner of a 30+, yes, I believe it is more than doable and a modified 30+ has circumnavigated. 30+'s have also done the transpac and vic maui races. With proper preparation, appropriate upgrades, and strengthening where required (these boats are getting old). Preparation and competent sailing is what gets boats, and their crew to their destination.

The 30+ leaves a lot to be desired in tankage for such a trip (both fuel and water), but isn't much different than the 32-3 in that regard. Interior volume for stowage is not ideal, as you well know.
