Bilge pumps

Having not had any pumps that worked on Moonglow, this was a problem. There was only a very small gap between the floor and hull under the stairs and the the boat flexs some, well the bilge hose got crushed flat. After a particularly nasty Delta Ditch run race in which the took a broached under spinnaker and submerged the rail all the way to within two feet of the companionway. :scared: Well this caused me to re-evaulate the bigle pump situation. Installed a rule RM1100 under the floor near the manual bilge pick-up and shimed the floor so the one inch hose for the maunual and the 1 1/8" hose for the automatic could get thru and not crushed. Installed a new thru hull on the transom. For those of you with 28s, check out ultra pumpswitch company, they make a great electronic tube float switch that is really reliable and works well with any pump that draws up to 15 amps.
To the guy with the E-29 and the rule 3000, you are local from what I see on the posts. Pick up one of the these ULTRA float switches at Svendsens and wire to your rule 3000, this will keep your boat dry in the event of flooding if you are away.
To all of you out there hope those battery chargers are working and there is water in your wet cell batteries to keep those bilge pumps running. Ryan
