Ant Steward Around the World

Twenty years ago, Anthony Steward sailed an open boat around the world. Right, no cabin, no shelter. He lost his mast several times, was run down by a ship and later wrecked on a reef . He filmed it all, excited the admiration/amazement/headscratching of the yachting community, and was just about never heard from again.

Where is he now? Beats me, a Google search turns up nothing much at all.

Skip the first five minutes of the film unless you like a roll in oily narration by yet another plummy voice reading a script in his underpants.

Thanks for posting this, Christian. I just got around to watching it. These stories help me to understand my own motivations for sailing and cruising. I, too, have wondered what became of Ant after all the publicity.

one clue

He does have a Facebook page. Last public entries appear in 2011. He noted in 2011 that he is off to the BVI to open the first charter base for MarineMax Vacations. Perhaps he is still with MarineMax??
